The US Department of Justice will conduct its own investigation into the murder of Haitian President Jovenel Moiz. This was announced by the press secretary of the department, Anthony Kohli, in a statement posted on the department’s website.
Kohli said that representatives of the ministry are assisting the Haitian government in investigating this “monstrous attack”. So, high-ranking officials from the United States have already arrived in the country and conducted an initial assessment of the facts and circumstances related to the murder of Moiz. “The Ministry is also investigating whether US criminal law was violated in connection with this case,” a spokesman for the department said.
Earlier, CNN reported that several people suspected of murdering Moiz were previously informants of US law enforcement agencies. In particular, it was reported that one of the suspects was an informant of the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and several more were from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The residence of the President of Haiti, Jovenel Moiz, was attacked on the night of July 7, before his death he was tortured. The criminals fatally wounded the head of state with a firearm, he received 12 wounds. Among the eliminated assassins of the president were three foreigners.
